The Treatment
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels that restore volume, smooth deep static lines, and gently sculpt the face. Most fillers used in aesthetic medicine today are made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in the body and binds water. Hyaluronic acid fillers integrate with your tissue, hold the volume they provide, and can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed.
Other filler categories work differently. Sculptra® uses poly-L-lactic acid to stimulate your body's own collagen production over months. Radiesse® uses calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres that scaffold and stimulate. Each has its place, and the right choice depends on the area, the depth, the goal, and your anatomy.
Unlike anti-wrinkle injections, which relax muscles, fillers physically restore volume, to lips, cheeks, under the eyes, the jawline, the chin, the temples. They're often used together with neuromodulators for a complete result.

Cheeks
Mid-face volume restoration, the foundation of a refreshed look. Filler placed on the cheekbone lifts the lower face indirectly.
Under-Eye (Tear Troughs)
Carefully placed filler to address hollowness and dark shadows. One of the most technical areas, requires an experienced injector.
Nasolabial Folds
The lines from nose to mouth corner. Often best addressed by lifting from the cheek above rather than filling the fold directly.
Marionette Lines
The lines from mouth corner toward the chin. Filler combined with jawline support often produces the most natural result.
Jawline
Sharpening the jaw definition, smoothing pre-jowl hollow, balancing facial structure. A trending area for both women and men.
Chin
Projecting or balancing the chin to harmonize facial proportions. Often done alongside jawline work.
Temples
Replacing volume lost in the temples lifts the brow and softens the side of the face. An underrated, high-impact area.
Hands
Volume restoration to the backs of the hands. The hands are often the area that gives age away even after facial work.

Consultation
A detailed conversation about what you want and what your face actually needs. Sometimes those are the same thing; sometimes a different area will produce a better result.

Topical numbing
Most filler areas are numbed with topical anesthetic for 15-20 minutes before injection. Most fillers also contain lidocaine for additional comfort during the treatment.

Injection
Your injector uses a fine needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area. Cannulas are used for under-eye and certain cheek work to minimize bruising. The injection itself takes 15-45 minutes depending on areas treated.

Immediate result
You'll see the result immediately, sometimes with mild swelling, sometimes not. Final result settles over 1-2 weeks as initial swelling resolves and the product fully integrates.

Aftercare
Ice for the first hour, avoid pressure or massage on the area for 24 hours, no strenuous exercise that day, no alcohol that evening. Bruising (if it occurs) peaks at 48 hours and resolves over 5-10 days.

Safety

Common, temporary

Most lip fillers last 6-9 months on average. Lips have a lot of movement, so filler tends to break down faster here than in less mobile areas. With consistent treatment, longevity often improves over time.
Yes, all hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. We can fully remove or partially adjust filler if you're unhappy with the result.
It's uncomfortable but tolerable for most guests. We numb the area with topical anesthetic for 15-20 minutes before injection, and most lip fillers contain lidocaine. The injection itself is brief, most lip treatments take 15-20 minutes total.
Both are hyaluronic acid filler families, both excellent. They're cross-linked slightly differently. Juvederm tends to integrate softly and is often preferred for lips; Restylane has firmer products good for structural work like cheeks and jawline. Your injector chooses based on the area.
12-18 months on average. Cheek filler in the deep tissue lasts longer than filler in mobile areas like lips.
Sometimes, if the dark circles are caused by hollowness, under-eye filler can dramatically improve them. If caused by pigmentation or thin skin, filler won't help. The under-eye is the most technical filler area; choose your injector carefully.
Sculptra is not a filler in the traditional sense, it doesn't add immediate volume. Instead, it stimulates your body to produce collagen over several months. Results build gradually over 3-6 months and can last 2+ years.
When administered by licensed injectors using authentic FDA-approved product, fillers have a strong safety record over decades of use. Risks are real but generally minor, and HA fillers can be reversed.
Most swelling peaks at 48 hours and substantially resolves within a week. Lips can stay slightly swollen for up to 2 weeks. Full settling (when the result is exactly what you'll see long-term) usually happens at 2-4 weeks.
